History:
"we can't rewind now, we've gone too far." **NOTE: The wiki does have his age mislabeled; he's listed as being 32 in the game itself.
Personality:
So, what do you get when you have a child grow up in the slums of Moscow during the Cold War? In the case of Konstantin Brayko, you eventually get a boy who genuinely fears very little, who thinks nothing of standing up to and fighting off men so much older and more experienced than him, and who is willing to do whatever he can to survive. Theft, killing, forcing prostitution, he seems to have had his hands in a little bit of everything from a very young age, and it's a life he seems to have taken to all too easily.
It could be said that he only does the things he does now in order to better survive the harsh life of the Russian underworld. After all, it was true enough in his early years. But there's no denying his sadistic brutality, either in a fight or in his punishment of others, and the almost childish thrill he takes in murder. He has a big hand in trafficking drugs and arms, and continues to pimp out his sisters long after any excuse of needing to support themselves could possibly hold any water. All of this and more is what helped him to reach the position he's in now, boss of what may be the most powerful gang within Moscow, and if he wants to continue to hold that position he can't go soft now.
Brutality aside, though, Brayko also comes off as a surprisingly cheerful guy. Sure, it may only be the cocaine addiction talking, but even without the drug it's easy to see that this is a man that likes to have fun, regardless of what that fun might entail. He's loud and he's flashy, from the way he dresses to the way acts out, having thrown himself into the culture of 1980s America at a young age and using it to model himself and his gang, when most of Russia's mafiya would prefer to emulate the sort of class seen in The Godfather. It's this eccentricity that leads so many people to underestimate him, and possibly to an extent draws attention away from anything about himself he doesn't want people looking too closely at.
And the man is quite loyal, to his gang and to those who manage to earn his respect. His pride may keep him from truly submitting to any other boss but himself, but he's quick to help and even fight for those he feels deserves his alliance. Sergei Surkov is one such man, who took Brayko under his wing as a protege after Brayko flat out refused to serve in the man's organization. And for a long time, he really did respect and appreciate Surkov's guidance, and Brayko gladly learned all he could from the man, served him faithfully for years as his second in command and even grew to be very close friends with the mob boss, "like a son, like brothers."
Unfortunately, it so happens that Brayko doesn't appreciate it when he feels like he's been left out of the loop. Finding out that someone he's supposedly close to is making deals and collecting money behind his back, without cutting him in, is something he appreciates even less, and he impulsively stole a shipment of missiles from Surkov for no other reason than to prove a point on that. And after finding out that Surkov had even gone as far as framing Brayko to American agent Michael Thorton as being the contact for the original owner of the missiles, he later killed his former mentor with seemingly little remorse. Betrayal isn't something that Brayko takes lightly, and he makes damn sure that the people around him know it.

Powers/Abilities:
Nothing too far out of the ordinary, really. The man's a normal human being with normal human skills, described as being quick-witted and brutal, with all the qualities of being a highly effective soldier. He's spent the majority of his life fighting for both survival and power, leaving him incredibly deadly with a knife. He's also quite fond of using submachine guns, and always carries at least two on his person where ever he goes, able to wield both at once with surprising skill.
The important thing to note, though, is his incredible pain tolerance, especially while he's high on cocaine. The drug's pain-killing side effect means that in a fight he barely feels a thing, dangerous for both his opponent and himself.

He didn't even have to open his eyes to know where he was. That familiar, all too sterile smell of hospitals cut right through the haze of semi-consciousness, drew him right back into the unpleasant aches and pains of the waking world. And then, into a sudden, sharp alertness. Hospital. Overdosed - another heart attack, maybe, or another vein bursting somewhere in his head, he wasn't entirely sure - but that wasn't the most immediate issue, that had him sit up far too quickly, search the small room with a wary eye and hard frown.
It was probably silly, really, how the hospital made him as uneasy as it did, even to this day. But he'd already learned once, years ago, what happened when he became too comfortable, and assumed than anyone other than his own men truly looked out for his own well being.
Three of the hospital faculty had brought the police to his bedside. When he was released from prison again later, three of the hospital faculty were found outside the building entrance- the bodies may as well have been mauled by a bear.
He hadn't had a problem with unwelcome hospital visits since. The staff he had on his payroll now, they had just the right amount of corruption, coupled with just the right amount of self-preservation, to do just what Brayko needed them to. Rest assured, they'd said, that he would have all the peace and security he needed, for however long his (increasingly frequent distressingly extended) visits lasted. And in the years since, they'd held true to their word. So far. But Brayko didn't get to where he was today by becoming complacent.
And besides that, he still had that shipment to deliver in the morning.
Standing required a bit more effort than it should have, required a cautious, testing before he pushed his weight fully off the flimsy hospital bed. No dizzy spells. No vomiting. Just a dull ache in his chest and a craving that he needed to take care of sooner rather than later. Otherwise, he seemed stable. Stable enough. He just needed to find a nurse, find a phone, one of his boys to bring him back home.
And then back to business as usual.
