So I lost another friend yesterday. To liver failure of all things. I'm surprised, and I'm not surprised. Jay was an alcoholic. Has been for awhile. We're talking about a guy who could drink a bottle of vodka by himself in one night. His wife, my friend, Lisa, is pretty much numb but she's handling it a hell of a lot better than I would if it were

Condolences. Losing a friend is always hard. I hope Lisa saves a huge chunk of that money, too.

She doesn't work or drive, either, so I don't know what she's going to do. That money won't last forever, specially not if she spends half of it on a trip somewhere.

Hopefully he has life insurance. She can go away but her grief will go with her and she'll be away from all the people who can support her.

Yeah I honestly don't know how much of a saver her was, or if he had that. But wouldn't alcoholism void the policy??

Yeah. The last time I saw him, which was maybe a year ago, he didn't look well. And his hands shook a lot.
