Writer's Block: Forbidden Reading

When I was in seventh or eighth grade, I found this book called Billy and Betty at the dollar store, only then there weren't dollar stores. I just remember the store being a Big Lots sort of place and the books were cheap, and at the time, I bought about three or four, one of which was this book by Twiggs Jameson called Billy and Betty.

My parents would have had to pay attention to notice me reading something, however, they rarely did. I had my nose in a book from about nine years old, I found fiction far more entertaining a prospect than my own family life. I would have thought The Exorcist was probably a no no for a ten year old, but they didn't notice, or they didn't care, either way, I read it and frightened the life out of myself with it. ;)
