This was probably my favorite line. "Domestication seeping through her pores" is brilliant and sad:
"She thinks of him during thunderstorms; impetuous, and unexpected as his visits. The rain falling in quiet whispers at the window rouses her in the dark, early hours, and she drifts outside, barely waking, to wash the domestication seeping through her pores."
And the last lines, of course. Guh.

Right there with you, though I've got other reasons for hating it, too. It generally comes off as juvenile, and contrived. Butttt, as this song doesn't actually reference anything period specific, I couldn't resist the little experiment in "writing-like-a-movie", which is basically what I was attempting here. Also, I was careful to chose a song that, while modern, is decidedly not pop (I avoid that painful genre whenever possible, and don't listen to the radio, at all); it's an obscure single off an indie-folk album. XD
