*stunned* If my brain wasn't fried at the moment I would be able to write a decent comment. All I can say is that I LOVED THIS CHAPTER!! The song was incredible and I don't like to read song fics, but ofcourse you can make it work, you're a bloody great author!! Waiting for the next chapter!!

I really don't usually like songfic at all, but the way I was approaching this one (as it's the first one I've ever done), was as sort of like, if it were a movie, a montage; you know, the individual bits of them "running" to each other, not literally, but of the progress that brings them together.

anyhow, thank you!

Oh my! This was so beautiful.

This was probably my favorite line. "Domestication seeping through her pores" is brilliant and sad:

"She thinks of him during thunderstorms; impetuous, and unexpected as his visits. The rain falling in quiet whispers at the window rouses her in the dark, early hours, and she drifts outside, barely waking, to wash the domestication seeping through her pores."

And the last lines, of course. Guh.

you know, it may ruin it completely for you, but the inspiration for that part is that god awful hillary duff song from a few years ago, "come clean". I had the unfortunate accident of hearing it on some horrible pop channel, or another, only once or twice, and the idea of rain washing away sanity stuck in my head as a useful Sparrabeth device, if only it could be made original. only, admittedly, I should hope I'm a much better writer than, well, no I don't hope, I know; cause that bitch is just.... ew.

Admittedly, I am really not a fan of using modern / pop songs in fiction set in a historic period.

Right there with you, though I've got other reasons for hating it, too. It generally comes off as juvenile, and contrived. Butttt, as this song doesn't actually reference anything period specific, I couldn't resist the little experiment in "writing-like-a-movie", which is basically what I was attempting here. Also, I was careful to chose a song that, while modern, is decidedly not pop (I avoid that painful genre whenever possible, and don't listen to the radio, at all); it's an obscure single off an indie-folk album. XD

&, thanks for the feedback; glad you're liking it so far!

I haven't been on fanfic.net since I was somewhere around seventeen, i.e: when CotBP first came out, as I'm twenty-one, now. Anddddd that's due in large part to the fact that it was, indeed, vomit-inducing. But, I've been thinking of going back there and trying to remember my old profile, so's I can find my old stuff, because it occurred to me that with four years worth of improvement, and context, I might be able to rework some ideas I had back then. Still, venturing over there seems like a dangerous endeavor.

Heh, sorry, I've a tendency to rant.
