I had forgotten to analyze the GPS data from when you were doing runs with the GPS about a month ago. I can spot the area where you clocked your 49.8 mph top speed, the log file actually shows it as 50 mph in one section. Also, you stopped off at the launch ramp and turned around and took another run towards Mayberry Cut? Um, you cut through some pretty shallow water at what I must assume was WOT (log says 49 mph). There's an area west of West Island where it juts out real shallow for quite a while. On the GPS it has the depth gradient lines, you were in the <6 foot area, however tide conditions give you an extra 2 feet at the time.
It's a screenshot from a program that came with my GPS. You use the GPS, come back and upload all the data to the computer, and it plots everything on the map. To get a map that is anything other than useless you have to pay a little bit extra. This setup with all the nautical charts was an extra $150 or so. Similar deal for street maps or topographical maps.
That is certainly my course during the day. I forgot about going to Mayberry cut, but I certainly did. The tapping ended up being aerated oil... Went away once I ran at part throttle for awhile and let it settle out.
