Waaaah I absolutely love this. Attila the Hun is like, my warlord crush or something idk. Anyway, bitty Hungary! Is adorable! I like to think she's badass enough to take on Grandpa Rome! Hungary, Prussia, and Poland just make the cutest kids, I think.

France! France was a beautiful asshole even as a child, it warms my heart. And is that some pedo action I see with Spain/Rome? Yes? Yes? Screw it, all the children are just precious.

I love Rome's misogynistic narration <3.

Rome's pedo action is extensively historically recognized!

I don't know if Rome is so much "misogynistic" as just "an arrogant dick." Like, getting beaten up by a four year old girl is maybe slightly more embarrassing than getting beaten up by a four year old boy, but that isn't really his point.

I was going by this description ("braced behind their shields like frightened women hiding from a stranger at the door") as much as the fact that he keeps calling her that "bitch of a girl." I mean, the description is no doubt apt for that time period... although I concede that misogynistic is probably the wrong word to use in this context, especially since Grandpa Rome actually loves women, like, a lot. Sexist is more like it??

I'd go with "patriarchal, and pissed off at Hungary specifically" rather than sexist. I mean, the Hunnic Empire was a giant fucking bitch. Rome's just calling it like he sees it.

As funny as this is I think it could have been EVEN FUNNIER if Rome didn't find out Hungary's gender until the end.

But bitty!France is ♥ and OMG ROME'S CONVERSION! ;_;

I-I don't know, the fic really wasn't intended to be a comedy. ^_^; It's about Rome's decline, not "about" Hungary or any of Hungary's fully-articulated pommel-striking action. The whole fic could have been done with Germania instead of Hungary, but then I wouldn't have been able to use the thing with Pope Leo, which was a nice way to bring Italy into it, I figured...

Ah, I see. Maybe it's just that it's kind of difficult to feel too sorry for Rome (being kind of a jerk and all), outside the door-selling thing. It's easier to connect with Hungary even though it's not her PoV.

Is Rome being a jerk in this? D= Like, he's under attack, getting harassed by his family, his temple is being stripped for parts, and then he's spared at the last second because his bitty little grandson interceded for him. It's really not a good time for Rome.

I loved this XD You had me at "gets punched in the balls by a four year old girl". Oh Hungary, why so awesome? I also loved the bit with Italy at the end. Rome's worrying over him was adorable (and, of course, Italy's adorable on his own). I liked the history snippets too. Great job on this! :D

Sooo. My thoughts were mostly "Oh my God, Hungary is awesome" and "Italy is so cute". I don't care if Hungary isn't the same as the Huns, it's just too fabulous. ♥

Hungary makes for a pretty precious stand-in, I figure. ♥

Glorious getting-pwned-by-a-girl action! Rome, you magnificent bastard <3 It seems like it's the rare century that France isn't "at a difficult age" XD I loved that and Rome/Spain ugh why is that image so nice to my imagination, and all the lovely bitty!nation historiliciousness. Hungary, being her usual BAMF self. Because, um, yes.
