Stick Theater Presents: The Third Crusade!

Apr 12, 2010 06:12

The Crusades! Adventure! Romance! Plate armor in climatically inappropriate regions! Sacking, attempted sacking, conspiracy to sack, and jaywalking! It's like we were the Vikings, only afterwards we were too embarrassed to look anybody in the eye.

I'm pretty much from out of nowhere but as a no-life history student-geek, this is amazing fantasticness.

I always pictured the Crusades as like one big tug-of-war game or like England taking Jerusalem behind everyone's back and being like "OH LOL I HAD IT ALL ALONG DIDN'T I TELL YOU?" and everyone getting all pissy about it. The fun times to be had! /shakes fist

But yes, this is like glory or something. Giant!Saladin is definitely the winner.

Giant!Saladin generally was the winner, yes.

(I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ♥)

All I can picture is an awesome anachronistic fight with Giant!Saladin and Alexander the Great dressed in a lion outfit duking it out like in a Godzilla sequel. Then there can be a fight between generals in the background that no one cares about, and they get their own craptastic sequel.

Or just Lion!Alexander beating the tar out of Darius in the same style. Ohohoho, Macedonian Greek history never fails to amuse me.

Or just monolithic rulers. That works too.

Also, the 'where the fuck have you been?' with France reminded me an awful lot of the Eddie Izzard World War II sketch. :'D

Ohhh my god. Richard x Philip is one of those things I discovered in Middle School and glee'd over and never thought about again... until NOW. I love all of your stick figure explanations, they're awesome. Frederick Barbarossa is amazing as well. Depiction of Saladin is win. And totally accurate.

The whole thing is just. I mean. What do you say? There's nothing you can say. Nothing that doesn't involve giant robots and gayness and lens flare, anyway.

Honestly I'm happy every time you put out a fic, so like, you know. Whatever really. ♥

You have made my life this much better. XD

Seriously, I had almost forgotten how much I loved learning about the crusades. (TERRIBLE THING, NO?)

The best thing about the crusades for me though, is the fact that after the first one, they mostly get progressively worse. some of them just made me want to facepalm in the middle of class. (Like the duck crusade. The duck crusade was pretty odd.)

Ummmm...suggestions? If I had to choose, it'd be the French Revolution. Including the Tennis Court Oath, of course. ;3

Oh, God, I get really earnest about the French Revolution, is the thing. I think I wrote like an 800 word fic about it at one point, and then delivered no fewer than three passionate speeches about it within the comments.

I've been skulking along not commenting on things, but...this. This.

You're not supposed to have a "brew-up" with the infidel!

I died.
