Because I could do these forever, more bands personified as people (this time largely taken out of my own iTunes library):

The first one, about Weezer.... so right on it's blowing my mind. The rest too, but that one hit close to home.

It's actually how I really feel about Weezer. The blue album has a chance of actually invoking tears of nostalgia. Their new stuff has me wonder if I should just never listen to the blue album again.

I don't want to do the standard internet "+1" reply, but it's hard not to, simply because you've put it so spot-on.

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't find Pork and Beans a little catchy, and perhaps one or two other newer tunes are okay, but the blue album was pretty much the peak for them, IMO.

Same here. I can accept that Blue and Pinkerton are way in the past, but I can't think of a band that went downhill so badly.

Quite funny. LCD Soundsystem... yup. I'm inspired to make my own list, i'm starting with Clutch and ending with horrible metal bands.

Clutch is that dumb friend you had so much fun drinking with as a teenager who you could still have just as much fun drinking with if only your wife would let you.

Clutch is your kind-of white-trash friend from grade school who calls you every once in a while to hang out now that you're adults, but you're pretty sure he works at a Jiffy Lube or something and it would be awkward so you don't call him back.

Clutch is the awkward guy who introduced you to cheap whiskey that you crushed on until he took you to that strip club to meet his family.

it's good to know someone has an idea about what's going on.

very accurate, for those 5 bands I know (Fever Ray's scaryness, Uffie's drunk-partygirl-horribleness). A little hard on Portishead, I think of them more as threatening to cut into other people's skin for fun, but not actually doing it. Like Nine Inch Nails, if you play it to somebody else the first time, they look very disgusted, but later discover that it's actually music.

And the Björk-thing is just inspired from one of her videos, really.

I didn't think that was intended to be criticism of Portishead, so much as the sort of thing that seemed at the time like it would later seem like it was only a good idea at the time, but later surprised you by still being a good idea, and probably a better one than it seemed at the time, since at the time it also seemed hella horrifying.

I could be wrong though?
