It's official:

QI moves to BBC 1 in January 2009.

It's pretty guaranteed, however, that two episodes will be shown before the new year switchover:
(1) Children in Need - 14 November 2008
(2) Christmas episode - sometime around Christmas ( Read more... )

*sigh* I was confused after seeing Pudsey on Alan's YT video -- even I know that Children in Need is in November.

I don't know the difference between BBC 1, 2, 4, or whatever, but your explanation helps; thank you. I'm like everyone else; I'm miffed that I have to wait an additional four months for the series, but hey. Now that you've explained it, I'm happy for them, too.

Aw, at least I've pretty much resigned myself to this by now. I will do my best not to be impatient (it probably won't work), but it's nice to know the dates for sure.

As for the move to BBC2, I'm an American, so I don't really know what that means. As long as they don't change it (I don't think the producers and Stephen would let that happen, hopefully), then it doesn't matter. I'm not even worrying about that now, since the F-series already's been shot.

I really hope someone uploads the Stephen Fry in America somewhere; it sounds great. And Stephen's on Buzzcocks soon! Let's be upbeat, people!

Darling, you mean the move to BBC1. Dramas/Quiz Shows etc. on BBC2 tend to be more aimed at a smaller audience, an audience that prefers/welcomes a more intelligent/specialistic approach. Weeks before on BBC2 there was My Zinc Bed, A Number. HBO's Rome was broadcast on BBC2. BBC2 can be meatier...

...than BBC1, which mainly broadcasts popularist programmes. Programmes aimed at those who'll settle for soap operas, documentaries about policing and Hollywood films. BBC1 is more a for the majority people channel.

I wish there was a way to have our cakes and eat it too. QI on BBC1 and airing in October!

Alas, alas, alas.

Aw, we will have to wait until Christmas? Oh, well, I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Well, at least there will be two episodes this year. That makes me happy and will hopefully fix my Alan Davies withdrawal.
