NGL, I hardly know what happened in this episode (aside from throwing ewoks into a lake of farts on Titan) because I was too distracted by the perfection of Brian Cox.
I adored this episode! About 5 minutes in I finally remembered why that person next to Sue was so familiar to me. I had watched two episodes of the Wonders of the Universe with him! He made me look up the second law of thermodynamics. I have the feeling I am going to remember his explanation of entropy forever. Love that guy. And I thought he was wonderful in this ep.
Love Sue and Alan, and Ross Noble was okay as well. Not as good as I remembered him, but still very entertaining. Can't wait to see the xl version.
Brian Cox was probably the best Sciencey/technical guy they've had on QI, I enjoyed him a lot. Some other guys tend to get too boring or too smug about it, or just squeee about science without explaining it interestingly.
Ben Miller was an example of someone who was a little too boring to build on the comedy, but I have to say his presence was worth it for the Rob Brydon siamese twins scene, culminating in the clone-kiss.
Yeah, I thought that. Shame, since I've seen Ben Miller in other shows (straight drama and his show with Xander Armstrong) and he's a lovely guy, but he was just so "OMG PHYSICS" when he was on QI and didn't try to relate it to anything or anyone else. He was too busy enjoying science and showing off what he knew.
I can't complain too much, people enjoying science and getting science right on telly, needs to happen more, but they do need to make it enjoyable and accessable to EVERYONE. I lost interest in science for 2 years because of a sh*t teacher, and only got it back due to moving up schools and getting two much better teachers. (Seriously, the teacher shouted at me in front of everyone for writing "it is...." rather than "the road...." to the point I was near tears then told me off for getting upset.)
Brian Cox was amazing! My Dad thought he was great, too (admittedly, we've both studied physics and chemistry, so he totally played to our interests). He had an excellent balance of intellect and wit
