This is going to cover some pictures I missed in the last entry, and a visit to the korean market. the pictures of north korea will follow in the next entry.
$227!? O_O The hell!? For how many people? (The most expensive dinner I had was about $55 per person, but that included having so much in leftovers that I was able to have one really bigass meal the next day as well.)
I'm always so glad to see you post pictures of Korea. That's where Sean, the boyfriend, is from and it just makes me fall so much in love with the country every time I see the photos you take. I like that you don't take photos of what everyone else takes photos of. I get to see the real Korea through your eyes and it's a very nice place, indeed. I look so much forward to living there in a few years!
that's really, really sweet! and wow, you're really going to move to korea? for how long, do you think? It's a nice country, but prepare for people staring at you because you're a non-korean. That's one thing I won't miss (i am korean, but the lack of diversity can be at times frustrating).
He's going to have a job with the government, so we'll be moving to a lot of different places, with one of the first on my list being South Korea. Unless we just fall in love with whatever place we're in, we probably won't stay for more than 2 to 4 years at a time. That's my guess, at least. Let me check with the boy...
Yep, he agrees. I have no doubt that people will be staring at me. I'm as white as it gets with bright red hair and face freckles, but I do have the asian double eyelid thing going on. There must be a bit of asia somewhere in my background because when I smile, my eyes definitely look very asian. I've had a lot of people comment on it.
Sean gets it a little bit, because he's only half-Korean. His mom is Korean and his dad is from Georgia. When he was very young, he looked more asian, then didn't for a few years, then did, and then didn't... it kind of goes in cycles. :)
thank you! i've totally forgotten what was in that appetizer. I remember it being very good, and the rest of the meal being ehh. and then the after-meal was horrible because we spent so much money.
Great photos ... I like these as a set because I got a great sense of the everyday aspects of a place. It's lame but my favorite things are the mundane details like the fan on the ceiling of that store and the reflections in the puddle on the bicycle/pedestrian path. And it makes me want to travel!
