Amidst trying not to scratch at my tattoo (it's at the I-don't-hurt-but-I-itch-like-a-mother-fucker stage), I'm getting by with a sporadic schedule of work, sleep, and sporadic time on the internet. Serious Ink Business
Today was my first appointment for the new tattoo! It went well, the artist getting the outline done in 2 hours, then asking if I was feeling fine enough to continue filling in. Today's fee was $375 ($350 initial + $25 tip). I had no problem tipping since he had to deal with my stretch marks and the general manhandling of my thigh. While it seems ( Read more... ) -

Oh man, I just dropped $100 for a deposit for my tattoo. Instead of having a flat rate, the artist told me it'd be $100 an hour and that my initial design would have to be made bigger otherwise some of the detail in the tentacles would be lost as the year went on after I got it. Kind of an interesting day at work. My friend Seth, who went through computer training and orientation with me, got fired today. Not for the reason he had first been worried about (not getting enough credit applications), but a new reason I was apparently not supposed to have heard. Well, for the past week I had been working on the character meme that I saw n4nuk4 had done, but since I was working on it with my mom's second laptop I have no way to get to it because mom has taken it and probably hidden it. I can't really do anything but roll my eyes and go downstairs and use the slow desktop computer.

Hmph. Found out I've been working so much because I'm on training pay, aka "free labor" as one of my managers called it. Now my counted chickens just had their coop destroyed since it'll be taking me a lot longer now to save up for my tattoo. Contented Sighs and Tired Feet
It's funny how one moment can make you reminisce about an entire history you've had with one person. And it doesn't even have to be a big moment or contain fancy dialogue, it just exists. I don't understand how an artist can put so much into their own pieces and yet slop through a commission and expect the buyer to be happy. Seriously, now I know better than to go to someone who doesn't give the same amount of care to commissions as they do their personal work. >:| And besides that, it was overpriced for what I got.
