Reflections on death and dying

Such a depressing topic, but one I'm still trying to come to grips with.

This fall, a Brother who pledged the quarter after I did at Virginia Tech died suddenly in a head-on accident.  I heard nothing about it, until a mutual friend and pledge Brother called me out of the blue to reach me.  I hadn't spoken to Chris in oh, about 10+ years - and he ( Read more... )

you weren't the only one to cry when that slide came up...
i could barely look, because the tears started rolling down.
many of the people at my table didn't understand, although Dan and CHuck did, thankfully.

I have no idea how Mims was able to keep her composure onstage to present the award - but it was also faboo to have someone close to John present it at the same time.

Nobody at my table understood why I was crying except for John Conover and Mark - and although Mark never met Grossi, he understood why I was crying because I'd spoken of him often.

Hey, I knew exactly why you were crying! I just didn't say anything to you because it looked like John and Mark were giving you what you needed. I never met John, but I heard about him through Henry and then through meeting Peri and giving her a shoulder.

Oh, Jamie - I had no idea this was going on... I remember David as such an exuberant person, so full of life... and I am afraid to ask - who is our Brother who passed away?

Best,
Lynn

If there is anyone that is going to start a new chapter at the University of Heaven, or an alumni association "up there",... yes, it would be Jamie,... Does ANYONE doubt this? ;-)

It was, of course, sad being at a national convention in Grossi's home city without him there. But it was also good to see him respected there, too, even if the vast majority of actives today never really knew him.
