Annoying.

So, my cell phone has been getting spammed recently by these ridiculous "renew your factory warranty on your car" offers.  I've tried to get on their do not call list twice (they have an option for that, press 2), but new numbers keep calling with the same "offer".  So, today, I thought maybe I'll just transfer to talk to someone there and yell at ( Read more... )

Have you done this: https://www.donotcall.gov/

It's supposed to get you off all lists and anyone who doesn't is in violation of the law. They have up to 31 days to update their lists. I used to get them all the time too. I only signed up for the registry on June 26, but I haven't gotten any of those calls in the past week at least. We'll see if they end up coming again or not though. It's too short a time to tell.

Well, I sort of have to think that this is more of a prank, because again, when I called back, nobody was there and when I tried to talk to a person, it just disconnected.

I don't know, but I used to get those same phone calls you do with the supposed expiring auto factory warranty or whatever, coming from lots of diff numbers. They also physical-mail me the same warnings. I've tried their get-off-their-list option like you did, but never tried talking to an actual person.

Ugh, I got another commercial call today, though this was different (something about a credit card). I went to the donotcallregistry site to file a complaint, but when I started typing in the number, I realized that it was 11 digits long on the caller id so I couldn't even file a complaint!

Though now I know not to pick up when it shows 11 digits.

I usually don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.

No I get the same phone calls. They always seem to be from a different number too. What's confusing I rarely give out my cell phone number, so how did they get it?

Yeah, Steve and Julie were talking about getting those calls, and they were surprised when I told them I'd never heard of this and don't get them.

So it's not people playing a prank on you. Still sucks though.
