We had an author signing and the author is an astronaut, so people were asking all sorts of fun questions. When his editor said, "Does anyone have any questions?" I wanted to ask everything (ie, "is it too late for me to make a career change?") but I sat back and watched instead. I've always been a bit of a space cadet in that regard. You're not the only one with a desire to go into space in some way. I used to be obsessed with outer space, but I knew I could never go simply because of my eyesight. :( When I was going through the confirmation program at the church I grew up in, one of the long term goals I'd written down during one exercise was to be the first orchestra conductor on the moon. Pretty bold dream for someone who makes a better wallflower than much else eh?

Maybe this sounds hokey but I've always been a lot more interested in the earth than the dull, lifeless void of space. Plus there's more a single human can reasonably explore here than out there... but jumping around on the moon would be pretty damn fun.

I think part of my space obsession was because of the earth, oddly enough. My life would be complete if I could see the earth from space. I can't even fathom the awesomeness of that.
