A while back I did this genetic DNA test. It was out of mere curiosity, really. We grew up knowing we were 75% Italian and 25% Irish, though part of that Italian was iffy because we weren't completely certain what my paternal grandfather was. Now I'm questioning whether my fabulous hair is Italian or Middle Eastern... hmm.

edit: OR BOTH. That would explain how there's so much of it.

BOTH IS A POSSIBILITY. And it is quite fabulous hair. I'm partially tempted to look into something like this myself, because supposedly I have Irish roots, although basically nothing from my family history indicates as such.

I did it through ancestry.com! Super easy. And they match you up with potential family members, though I haven't found anyone who's obviously related to me yet (there might be some 6th cousins or something).

That is so cool. I hope sometime next year I can afford to do this for both myself and Lucas, and then Lucy can even have the info on hand when she's older. Neither of us are quite certain where a lot of our ancestors originated from...
