A coworker of mine recently complimented my appearance and said, "That trainer of yours is doing a good job." And I laughed, thanked her, and went on my way.

And then when I thought about it, I realized how little influence he's had lately. I mean, yeah, I needed someone to kick me into gear in the beginning. But when you only talk to someone once ( Read more... )

So, despite your trainer's downfalls, do you think it was worth the money at the beginning to get you going? I'm considering options as I'm feeling rather stagnant workout-wise. My hubs did well when he had a trainer, but he's an athlete for a living... I get to the gym about 3 days a week (spinning class day 1, leg weights & pool day 2, arm weights and maybe spinning depending on timing), but I'm sure it isn't enough. Not to mention, my eating habits are the pits mostly because I'm unnecessarily stressing over crap at work. Toying with getting a personal trainer for a bit at my gym and combining with Weight Watchers... or a secondary gym membership so I can go Thurs/Fri (can't get up super early those days). Only problem is, I hate cooking, so I'm not even sure if WW would work because of that. Have you ever gone to a nutritionist? Was thinking of that as well with the hope of getting pointers that'd help a culinary idiot. :/

Oh, I definitely needed a trainer in the beginning. And their job is to push you to do things you wouldn't ordinarily consider. It's helped in that respect-I needed the initial kick in the butt.

I did see a nutritionist once but it was kind of dumb. Maybe if I'd gone to, like, a real nutritionist and not someone who happened to be affiliated with my doctor's office? But the entire conversion was basically, "I need more iron in my diet" and she gave me a list of foods that contain iron. I was like... uh... thanks, google.
