Did you just Blink a rainbow? AKA: a post about eye makeup....

Eye makeup is an interesting thing. At the same time it can seem quite straight forward, and yet bafflingly complicated AND frustrating. Depending on what you want out of it I suppose.

There is nothing incorrect about smoothing on one shadow color in a powder or cream, putting a little liner & mascara on and calling it a day, but if you're anything ( Read more... )

Loved this post! The WnW palettes are really amazing, aren't they!?!? They're as good or better than many expensive eyeshadows I've tried! I have both Petal Pusher and Comfort Zone and -- gah, those colors! The only one I've tried that I can't make work for me is Walking on Eggshells. The colors are lovely but too muddy for my skin tone, I think. I look best in cool to true neutral shades. Anything too warm makes me look ill, though I can sometimes pull that off in the right shades/combinations.

I do agree that there is always a shade you can wear from every color family. Can't wear blue? YES YOU CAN! You just have to find the right blue! Same goes for lipstick -- so many people say they can't wear red. YES THEY CAN! They just need to find the right red. Sometimes it takes a lot of trying things out and experimentation but there is a shade for everyone.

WnW eyeshadows are awesome! :) I don't have walking on eggshells, it didn't look right for me, but I have Silent Treatment, and it is SO great.

Yes!! I think people get overwhelmed because of the nearly infinite selection of color tones available!

It's true-- your eye shadow collection leaves most with their mouths agape. I still remember the first night we really hung out on our own in your room on State playing with make-up, drinking Yoohoo, and watching Mr. Holland's Opus. You totally taught me how to choose and apply make-up, specifically eye shadow. Yay Roomie! :D

hahaha! My collection is even more fearsome than it was back in college! :D

I was just thinking about that night recently, you encouraged me to play with more bright colors! Yay Roomie!!

Aw, hooray! I was just thinking recently that you hadn't done a makeup post lately. I'm right there with you on the greasylid girls club. I've tried most products out there- for naught. The dread crease within HOURS. I've found that Mary Kay Lip Primer does a decent job, but it has to dry completely before applying over it- not conducive to my morning routine. Also, MAC makes something called Paints (http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/shaded/154/344/Paints/index.tmpl) that work as a base as well as a shadow. I connived a sample of the bare canvas color, and it gets about 5 hours wear before creasing- with or without eyeshadow atop it.

Thanks! nice to know people like reading these. :)

the UD primer potion has been excellent in my usage so far. I also have the shadow base from NYX, it is ok, but i would say lasts maybe half as long as the UD potion. I've heard that the NYX HD primer is better, so i'm hoping to pick that up sometime soon.

I have heard much about the Mac paint pots, but I haven't had the pleasure of trying them just yet. :) I do however, LOVE the maybelline color tattoo cream shadows, I have the pomegranate and the taupe, and i want to get at least the bronze, if not several more!
