Chicago was lovely

I recently took a trip to Chicago for the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers and I had a great time. I had no idea Chicago was so lovely. I can picture myself living there some day. It was so clean and beautiful, with classic architecture. That and the Baha'i Continental House of Worship is located in Wilmette, accessible ( Read more... )

We are driving from NJ to LA this summer for her orientation (we'll bring some of the bigger things to store for a month) on the way stopping at the Grand Canyon, and then on the way back stopping in Vegas. Using Route 50 to St. Louis and then taking Route 66 to LA. We are in the rudimentary stages of planning though so it's still in the air. It will be for the month of July. Rock on for your trip too!

lol, yea... I was in Colorado for the AAGs next year. As for Arkansas and Mississippi, last November I took a roadtrip with some Phi Sigma Pi peeps to Memphis for a convention. Memphis, it turns out, is in the southeast corner of Tennessee and you can see both Arkansas and Mississippi from there. So we "missed" the exit (exit 1a) and ended up in Arkansas, promptly got out of the car, took a pic in front of the sign, got back in, "missed" the turn and ended up in Mississippi, lather, rinse, repeat, and made it back to our hotel within an hour. :)

As for Patagonia, I'm game. When do you want to go? We should keep our eyes out for cheap fairs. Though I guess it's better to go Fall, Winter, Springish, than our summer as it's their winter... I actually mentioned our Patagonia poster to a friend at the AAGs as they had tons of posters there. Le sigh.

Hey now, don't forget our little detour to Graceland or the fact that the reason we had so much time is that none of us realized that we were going to be crossing into another time zone. We are amazing. :)

haha, yea... oops! Though I think we would have detoured even if we hadn't acquired an extra hour through times zones. Yay Graceland! Yay not being able to check into our hotel! Yay PSP road trips! Man... now I'm getting nostalgic....

I'm happy to hear you enjoyed Chicago. :) Especially since you were here during the winter which usually scares a lot of people away. Unless you were here during that abnormally warm week, and then that just makes you lucky. ;)

Indeed, I did enjoy your home turf :) It was in the 40s, so it wasn't too bad. I don't know if that's the abnormally warm week or not *shrug* What I have decided is that I want to go back and visit when I have more time to explore and am not spending 85% of my time in a hotel conference room.
