Title: If you remember me
Warning: Smut, Mpreg, amnesia-fic
Summary: Yunho does something terrible and Jeajoong can't remember his past.

Chapter 2

Yunho really doesn’t really believe in love at first sight, but there was a moment when he was 10 years old, standing beside his parents when his mother reached to the other woman and hugged her. And she had a little boy besides her, one with dark hair and the longest lashes that Yunho ever seen, grinned tentatively at him and he just knew, at that very moment that the boy was something special.

The white walls stared blankly back, clinical and expressionless as he listened to the doctor’s monotone. Cherrie the red headed bartender felt it was appropriate to accompany them. Even with his claims of knowing Jaejoong she seemed sceptical.

“There was no one for him 3 years ago in the hospital, there is no one for him now”

“I didn’t know he was in the hospital” Yunho began “It is not like he informed me before leaving”

“Then maybe he had a reason to stay away after all” she said.
It would have been easier to believe if she knew what Yunho knew. Those broken tears when
Yunho took Moonbin away, he had pleaded then, so desperately.

“Who the hell are you?”

The question startled Yunho as he looked up to a glaring man, he would have looked exceptionally attractive if it wasn’t for a jagged scar on the right half of his face. It gave him an overall quality of being menacing.

Yunho was taken aback by his viciousness “who are you?” he asked instead, only to have the other man haul him up by his shirt.

“What did you do to Jae?”

Jaejoong had always been the one to command loyalty and love, with each and every business meet they did, it was Jaejoong that they all fell in love with, when aids would know what exactly Yunho ate for breakfast but for Jaejoong there would be a flower in the vase.

“I am his friend” Yunho began simply “I used to know him before the accident”
Hyun joong let go of his shirt abruptly “why aren’t his parents here?” he asked instead.

“His parents died a long ago, I have informed his aunt and uncle however”
Hyun joong shook his head “no wonder no one came for him”

Yunho bristled at that comment “we didn’t know he was going, he didn’t inform anyone he just left, we spent a lot of time searching for him”

“If he left without telling maybe he didn’t want to be found after all”

Yunho glared at the other man, the common feeling of solidarity amongst them all, the conviction that Jaejoong was better off in some rundown pat of Tokyo working in a shady bar than his life back in Seoul.

“He doesn’t remember anything” it was a smaller man who chimed in, he was wearing a dress
shirt and looked too dressed up to be in a hospital.

“What do you mean?” Yoochun was Jaejoong’s best friend, growing up they shared things that Yunho could never understand. He always found out there was something unspeakably communicated between the soulmates.

Sometimes he wondered if it was Jaejoong’s relationship with other people that ruined theirs that their distance had grown chasms wide and not communicated. But on most days he wondered if that was sufficient reason to push away the only thing in his life that made him happy.

“I am sure he will be alright Hyunjoong” Cherrie said softly to the man, “one of you should go home to Ayumi” her eyes were on the man with the scar, who Yunho realized was named Hyunjoong.
The well dressed man nodded along “I am staying anyway”

Yunho wanted to interrupt them all that the only person who had any legal rights was Yunho, ‘not anymore’ his brain unhelpfully chimed in.

He pushed away those thoughts and concentrated on the doctor who was approaching them.

“He is fine” the doctor said to the worried looks, “there was some frontal lobe damage when he was initially admitted, but this episode was possibly caused due to dehydration”

Yunho was eager to ask the next part “will he ever recover his memories?”

The doctor smiled politely at him “well it’s very rare for anyone to permanently lose their memories, but considering that he has been in a different country, maybe putting im in the same conditions again would jog his memories”

“what do you mean?” the other man butted in.

“It means that he has better chance of reliving his memories if I take him back to Korea”
---

Jaejoong felt that his head was pounding, like he was being dragged underwater. He groaned as he woke up, the nurse handed him a glass of water.

He was taken aback by the room’s interiors, it looked expensive. He worried about the finances for a few brief seconds before he was mauled by Keita.

“are you alright?” he asked anxiously, Jaejoong nodded and smiled. The other man had clearly rushed from work where he was working as a host, still smelled like alcohol and cheap perfume.
It was the other man in the room that surprised Jaejoong, the stranger in the well cut suit looking at him curiously. The colour of his eyes, the slant of his cheekbones, there was something about them that tugged the back of his memory like a familiar unfamiliar face.

“Who is he?” he asked Keita instead, there was something over whelming about that man, something that made him feel oddly claustrophobic.

“He says he is your old friend” Jaejoong looked over to the stranger surprised “you know me?”
The man walked towards the foot of Jaejoong as he felt his heart race suddenly “Yea we were really good friends”

“How come nobody came looking for me?”

“Nobody knew where you were, and when you didn’t come home for a year everyone suspected the worst”

Yunho could still remember those days with startling clarity , It was Yoochun who was frantic with worry when he called Yunho.

“I can’t find Jaejoong anywhere” the tell take crack of Yoochun's voice, he was never the one to reign in his emotions.

“That is clearly not my problem” Yunho replied, even though his traitorous heart raced in fear

“I am sure this is another ploy for attention”

Yoochun growled in disgust “you son of a bitch, how can you be so heartless, it’s your fault anyway”

Yunho slammed the phone shut, they were friends at some point or the other. So much so that Yunho always considered him a stray younger brother but how things had changed.

It was a couple of days later when Jaejoong’s lawyer called him instead “I can’t find him anywhere to sign the divorce papers”

At first Yunho justified the search party on the claims that he wanted the divorce to be final and Moonbin to be his legally, but as the days turned into weeks he was frantic with worry.

That suddenly he was looking through every car accident, every suicide, every mishap and the dead unidentified people in the world piled up.

A year later when Jaejoong didn’t turn up the question was answered in itself, that Jaejoong had to be dead if he didn’t come home for his only son.

And there he was now, looking skinnier than how Yunho remembered him, with bleach blonde hair
and those doe eyes still bright and soulful as ever. He still remembered every reason why he loved Jaejoong in the first place, why looking into Moonbin’s eyes still made him feel incredibly guilty.

“You don’t look Japanese, where do you live?” Jaejoong’s eyes still seemed focussed on the spot behind the wall than him.

“We live in Korea, you have your aunt uncle and cousin there”

“What about my parents?”

“They passed away a long time ago”

There was still the streak of unmistakable sorrow that passed through Jaejoong’s face as he took a deep breath “did I live alone?”

“You lived with me”

That took Jaejoong by surprise, his eye widened as he looked at Yunho in shock “what, where we...?”

Yunho could feel the panic building, the fear that their history would mar any chance of having Jaejoong in his life again, in any capacity “No you were my personal assistant”
That was partially true; Jaejoong had a law degree after all chose to assist Yunho’s business endeavours, read through his contracts rather than waste his time.

They had gotten married when Jaejoong had hit 18 after all, Seo young had been thrilled then, that Jaejoong was officially a part of the family then.

Jaejoong gave me a self depreciating smile, “how old am i?”

“you were born on 26th January 1986, you are 26 years old”

“You really don’t look 26” Kieta exclaimed in surprise as Jaejoong grinned back at him.

“I want you to come back with me” Yunho interrupted them “you have friends there, family, you have a chance to remember your entire life”

There was something oddly intimate about the way the stranger had phrased that sentence, like he was asking Jaejoong to come back to him. It made Jaejoong feel claustrophobic and sick “can I talk to Kieta alone?”

The stranger looked unhappy but walked out nonetheless, Kieta looked at him curiously.
It was true that Kieta had known Jaejoong for barely three years. Back when Kieta was working in the host club and trying to put Ayumi through nursing school, back when Hyun joong was just a gangster who had to be patched up so often that Ayumi did it without complain.

Kieta knew that he encouraged their dynamics, that he knew that if Hyun joong had loved her then at least she would be protected. He was always the one to think ahead, make decisions for the best of them, it was Ayumi’s bleeding heart that brought Jaejoong to them as well.

Unfortunately fate hadn’t been too kind to Ayumi, she managed to hide her congenital heart disease well enough but when she collapsed the second time at work, they fired her.

Yet Jaejoong had stepped up and helped out, times were difficult but they managed to stay together nonetheless. Kieta noticed the other man’s rolex watch and expensive suit. He would rather have Jaejoong to themselves, he was an orphan after all.

“You should go” he surprised himself by saying that, looks at Jae, Jaejoong’s now confused expression.

“If you have a chance at finding happiness, you should take it”
He reaches over and hugs Kieta instead, burying his head into his shoulders “are you trying to just kick me out?”

Kieta just holds him tighter.

---

Yunho stares absently at his phone, he had insisted that Changmin take the next flight out and inform his parents and Yoochun and Junsu. Keep the family informed about the fact that he had found his ‘dead’ husband with bleached blonde hair and no memories, to hide anything that would shock the other man.

He had tons of missed calls already, a worried mother, over eager Yoochun, a concerned Junsu and Yoona, he wanted to cut them out. For a while keep Jaejoong to himself, have a version of their old life that did not involve him leaving.

But he didn’t want to answer their questions, because the questions had answers that he wasn’t so sure about him. That this Jaejoong was unscarred, that if there was a way to protect him from the hardships he already had experienced Yunho would make sure that was possible.

Kieta came out after a few seconds, “he wants to talk to you!” before Yunho could go inside the other man blocked his way.

“I know you are not his friend”
Yunho was taken aback by that statement, the stony way in which the other man’s face was set.
“The way you looked at him, that’s not how friends look at each other”

Before Yunho could protest further Kieta cut him off “I don’t acre what happened between you two or why you don’t want to tell him the truth, but if you hurt him, in anyway you won’t ever have another chance with him”

“I will make sure that you won’t get another chance”
---

Jaejoong couldn’t logically explain what he felt for the other man, there was something about him that he found attractive yet there was something that unsettled him. Like some of Hyunjoong’s friends, something primeval and instinctive that screamed ‘flight or fight’

“I will come with you”

Yunho looked taken aback for a second before smiling at him, there was something about the smile that Jaejoong wanted to trace the edges with his fingers.

He gulped at the urge- what had he gotten himself in.
