With so many women in so many colors, all on the move on the dance floor or milling about the buffet, it was hard for her to focus. Normally red would have drawn her just fine, but she wasn't hungry; however, green and gold caught it this time. Her dress whispering behind her she walked up to the woman in question, an offering of a glass of punch pinned between her fingers. "Hey," She spoke in a half purr as she offered the glass, spilling none on her gloves. "Enjoying the party?" She was grinning like the cat that ate the canary from behind her mask. The mask and the wine made doing this all the easier.

Well, maybe just a little, LITTLE wine. And these small snacks were pretty tasty. She was actually taking time to watch the spectacle, women in all different masks and colors, as she tried out the sort of ball Prince Gumball would have likely thrown, minus the candy people. So engrossed was she that she jumped slightly when approached by a woman in a beautiful red dress and a black mask, and Fionna, despite vowing to be her usual unshakable self, flushed a little.
"Y-yeah," she said, eating the hors d'oeuvre. "The music is really nice."

If this were one of the Prince's gala balls would you be reacting the same, Fionna? Would you blush as he spoke? Would your breath catch if she smiled at you?
"Yeah," a throaty laugh bubbled forth, Marceline leaning on the table not too far away. "It sounds danceable," was that even a word? She put down the drink within Fionna's reach, extending a hand. "Wanna see just how nice?"
Reply
Yeah, this was definitely not the Prince's ball: there were candy people acting all goofy and junk, throwing confetti and laughing. THIS was refined, and seeing her approach, Fionna could tell she was in the presence of a very refined lady. How could she refuse?
"That'd be...nice," she said, and grabbed hold of her senses, and extended her hand to be taken to the floor.
That WAS what girls in these kinda parties did, right?

Take that slogan to your board room and coin it! Sure, it was more like this lady in red to be a jerk about things, to dance about any given subject as much as she could get away with. However, tonight was different and she just wanted to dance. She wanted to dance and enjoy herself without the nagging question of her sexuality. Ah, the hungry look the poor girl was being given. If she couldn't see it, she could probably feel it. If what Fionna was wearing was a problem it surely didn't show!
"I was worried that you were going t'say no," The lady in the crow mask too Fionna's hand, fingers sliding like spiders through hers. It was the lady like thing to do, my Fionna may not be as much of a tom boy as she thinks! Marceline leaned in, brushing her lips across Fionna's knuckles before leading her out and onto the dance floor.

The hungry look made Fionna wonder if she should be wary, but only vaguely. She wasn't going to say no when she had the chance to enjoy herself, and be, apparently, swept off her feet.
She was SO glad she was wearing the mask: the expression she'd have had after the kiss on her knuckles was priceless.
But that was food for thought later. Now, she swayed slowly, trying to match her movement with the lady in red, when the sing changed.

Fionna's partner took the lead easily with aid of the shoes The Queen had given her. They swayed, they spun and not a foot was stepped on! Leaning in Marceline whispered into the girl's ear, "So," there was that laugh again, "-why were you just standin' there?" She was feeling enough herself to tease, "Waitin' on someone?"
Reply
And with the spin, she couldn't help but laugh lightly: who knew she was so light on her feet, or that she would be able to have fun at an event that just seemed to whisper the schemes of that weird Queen and her plans. What she had not been prepared for, though, was that question, a certainly valid one.
"Not really," she said, though only loud enough for the two of them to hear, "just trying to see what the big deal was about these kinds of parties. All these dresses and dancing and stuff, if it was actually any fun."
Reply
Oh? She hadn't been waiting for anyone? Usually the pretty ones had suitors and friends lined in the corridors in wait. "Ah," She dipped Fionna again, "-that makes sense! These things aren't half bad if you can find a way to have fun. Were you plannin' on standin' there all night if no one asked you to dance?"
Reply
She went with the dip and being brought back up, looked directly at her lead. "If I had to stay here all night, I'd just like to see all these peeps dancing and such. It's still a really nice party, but I don't mind being the one left alone."
Reply
"Nah," In bringing Fionna up from the dip she held her fairly close, "-the Party Gods wouldn't have allowed that." Marceline's head tilted to the side, her breath flooded against Fionna's neck, "And I agree with them. Beautiful girls should be a part of the party, not just watch it!" She laughed again, "That means you!"
Reply
For instance, THIS happening. No one had really, to Fionna's knowledge, called her beautiful before, and that through her for a loop. "Yeah, the party Gods made it so I came here to begin with!" She stammered, reddening under her mask. "Anyway, you don't know I'm pretty, I'm still wearin' the mask!"
Reply
"Then you have to enjoy yourself," She pulled back, "-or insult the gods!" If not for the magic of the night that would have been enough to figure out who was whom behind the masks. For better or for worse, it would go by unnoticed and be quickly forgotten.
"What makes you think I don't?" They kept moving along the floor, not missing a beat. "You aren't stuck up, you seem honest and you're nice." She went down the list, "That's what beauty is!" She laughed, "Oh, and you look awesome in that dress. Yeah, beautiful."
Reply
Fionna, of course, was all about fun. "I will," she said, grinning. "There's food, good music, and some
dancing. I'm going to enjoy myself!"
She did blush, really, REALLY badly."Um, I don't think I'm that great, but...thanks. You really do know how to make a girl feet special."

Such was a good thing, being all about something! Better still to be all about having fun! Who knew? Maybe The Queen was just as bad about people being downers at parties like the Party Gods? "Awesome!" The Crow said in a bubbly voice, "There's no stopping until midnight!"
Being attracted to the color red in general, there was no way that Marceline was going to miss the fact that her dance partner's face was flooded with the color. "I say what I mean and so as I feel," Her way of saying that she was being honest and not yanking Fionna's guts. She really thought that she golden haired girl was awesome, without knowing who she was. "Hey," She spun Fionna again, "-c'mon now! Why wouldn't you think that you're all that?"
Reply
It sure beat just watching and making nice conversation, what she HAD been doing until recently when she encountered the Crow lady.
Fionna nodded, looking (as much as you could look with the mask) a little cautious. "Well, no one really talks about junk like that, and where I'm from, there are people who could. Mostly, its because I get the feeling I'm more guy than girl to people, I guess. "
