we've had a strange tragedy touch us recently, and investigating it led me to read the blogs and live journals of some sad, desperate, broken, lonely - to the point of dangerous to themselves and others - people. i wrote this in response to that, as a prayer, as a message to people to ask for help, as a reminder

What happened?!

one of our fellow KoL'ers, someone that i've seen from a distance - i think he sent me some items in the past, and sarah has actually chatted with him - murdered, then raped and dismembered a 10 year old little girl, jamie rose bolin, in arkansas. he was also a blogger and lj'er, so his journals are still there to be read. KoL is reeling from it, especially because CNN made a point to say that he played, and someone sent me a link to a crime-study site that sent me to his and other blogs written by people who've done things like this. there really is no better tool for profiling (a science that i have been avidly interested in all my life) than to have these people's diaries - and all the surveys they've filled out, etc. - but the big blow to the brain is the realization of how we really ARE all connected now, and how he could have reached out to someone... i feel like it's partly my job to balance some of the madness, y'know? well, of course you know.
