ugh. i spent 2.5 hours fixing my interview tape that snapped off the real today. i thought i was going to cry. it's an awesome interview and i don't think I could have convinced my participant to do it again, and it might not have been as good...and too rehersed. anyway, i had to tear apart the cassette and pull the tape out, cut off another tape ( Read more... )

awww, crap. That REALLY sucks. I'm really sorry to hear that... but digital recorders are definitely a must. My professors have recounted so many horror stories that I've decided now if I ever do interviews, that's the way to go. And an extra microphone too!

yeah. i'm really lucky that i recoved 95% of the interview! i had to adjust the tape a thousand times, and I missed maybe 5 minutes of the interview (hopefully nothing crucial). I just finished transcribing. on to the next! yesterday and today SUCKED the life out of me. I really like doing interviews, but I hate the transcribing and the technology...that i don't have!
