That looks really painful.

You know, it's weirdly not. My upper arm hurts quite a bit from the unusual use, but the bruise is barely tender. Strange.

Ouch.

I'd love to try archery, if I ever get the chance. And if I do, I will now know to wear protective clothing!

Are you thinking of taking it up in the long term as a hobby/sport?

I would definitely encourage you to try it! It is such fun and very relaxing once you get into the rhythm.

I am definitely thinking of taking it up. I want to go for at least the next two weeks, because then I get a Novice certificate :D

AUGH! Yeah, those bows and bowstrings aren't kind, are they. I might try out some archery in a few weeks, going to medieval fair and tournament. I've tried it before and I really suck, haha! Ah, for the fun of it. ;-) Well done you!

Try to find a cream with arnica in it, amazing healing properties in arnica. HUGS!!

They really aren't. And you really should try it! If someone shows you properly how to do it, I'm sure you'd find you improved instantly. I was surprised by how easy it turned out to be once I knew how :D

I've got a bit of emu oil on it (which I don't believe contains any actual emus), but it's really not that bad.

Oh gosh, I love archery. I haven't done any in ages but I enjoyed it so much. And was always incredibly proud that I was better at it than my brother.

I hope it heals up ok!

I think I could definitely come to love it! It's a fun, suitably strange sport for me. And I love that gender/age/etc. has much less impact than in most other sports, so that you can indeed be better than your brother based on skill alone :D

I'm sure I will be fine. I almost always am.

It's worth heading off to an actual archery club and seeing if they have beginner days or short courses or something. Because it's so much fun (and the price for class + all equipment hire here was so incredibly reasonable that I actually called the place in advance to make sure their website had actually been updated since the late 90s, because that was clearly when it was built).

So, umm, yes: GO DO ARCHERY. It will be fun, promise.
