I don't know which imitates the other, but it made me think back...the only class I went to the day I found out Sam died was Band because we were recording songs. We played Carmina Barana and it has these fierce parts that I played with all of my might, it was a release. It didn't make things better overall, but it did for the moment. I identified because I needed something outside of myself and it was music at the moment.
