my ex-girlfriend janine worked cleaning huge old mansions on the gulf islands, where she would languish in swimming pools and collect all of the dusty dead bugs she found in the corners. the trick, according to her, was just to get all of the cleaning (and snooping) done early so that she could spend the last hour mimicking capitalist lifestyle and marveling at the hypocrisy of it all. she'd call me from chaise lounge chairs in luxurious marble drawing rooms and recite slam poems she'd written during the day. i miss that girl.

oh goddess. i do not even know how you are going to manage to deal with a person who is choosing to fight in a way they do not even agree with. that is essentially my problem with police officers: so many that i've talked to over the years have shrugged their shoulders and said cliche things along the lines of "i don't agree with the law, but i have to uphold it." why?! do these people not just stop and listen to the words coming out of their mouths?! sheer spineless idiocy, i tell you. force them to elaborate ( ... )

janine sounds awesome! cleaning other people's filth for money is interesting and politically, i'm not sure how i feel about it. on one hand, a person really has to trust someone to bring them in...you hear and see a lot that could be damaging to their reputation/position etc. on the other hand, some of them act and seem to think they are above their "help".

good advice!..asking intrusive questions to force elaboration, encourage critical thought. i have an update i've been mulling in my head for a few days, without time to put it to paper/screen. soon.

you are well, i hope! much love and i am excited to receive your package. with my next letter to you, i will include my new address!
