whenever i hear (or apparently read) the lyrics to roll with it, my eyes well up with tears. every single time. it's just because the words are so simple yet so fierce, and it just brings home all of the madness that war is ( ... )

Kali, be with us.
Violence, destruction, receive our homage.
Help us to bring darkness into the light,
To live out the pain, the anger,
Where it can be seen for what it is -
The balance-wheel for our vulnerable, aching love.
Put the wild hunger where it belongs,
Within the act of creation,
Crude power that forges a balance
Between hate and love.

thank you for sending this poem..!

you mentioned in a previous comment about how maybe we're able to explore kali together because it is so far from our shared realities. i agree. and it's interesting that there is no destructive energy in our relationship. i think that lack of destructive energy allows us to see things that it would otherwise block us from.

and i do love the song 'praise' still. i like to listen to it with the coming of every spring, every positive change.
