The first place Madeline thinks to look is near the clinics, because Gabriel never has much reason to wander. It's probably that that made him so easy to find, and she doesn't know why she's running, because she knows how this must have happened.

And yet.

She searches silently, jacket still clasped to her chest, and lets herself hope blindly.

He's just as Sylar had described him- lying in a heap behind a corner near the clinics. No one had noticed him so far and he hasn't woken up yet. He is, however, breathing.

She's there almost immediately, holding her own breath until she sees him taking his own, and then half-laughing (or crying) as she kneels next to him and touches his shoulders lightly.

"Gabriel?"

Gabriel's eyes blink open, and he seems to focus on Madeline. His pupils are probably larger than they should be.

He coughs, lightly, and pain crosses his face. "Mm- Madel-?"

"Shh, shh, honey, don't talk, it's okay." She presses her fingertips to his mouth, shaking her head. "We're not far from the clinics, I'll get you there in no time and you'll be looked after, okay? He's not here."
