Sriracha

Aug 20, 2009 20:47

I bought a smallish bottle of sriracha at the supermarket because I've heard nothing but awesomeness about it. I gave it a taste, and it's way too sweet to use as a substitute for Frank's. The only idea I've come up with so far are to mix it with ketchup and use on burgers and fries. Any ideas?

maybe mix it with some vinegar or rice vinegar to cut the sweetness and give it some more bite

sriracha + mayo + sesame oil = sushi spicy sauce

It's also nice simply as a condiment in place of other hot sauces (I far prefer it flavor-wise to tabasco sauce). It compliments most asian dishes if you want to kick the heat up a bit.

If I'm making homemade ramen (real stuff, not cup-o-noodles crap), I'll often add a little to the broth along with some fish sauce.
