i was listening to my ipod this morning when it suddenly turned blank.  then it wouldn't turn off.  it is currently unresponsive.  suggestions?  this is supposed to be the year of no big purchases and i'm scared.

has it run out of power yet? That's happened to me. Then I power it up, and it runs like nothing happened.

Or your ipod might have gone apes**t.

maybe someone at work has an i pod charger. you might want to find out, because if it is busted you can swing by an apple store and maybe they can figure it out (is it under warranty?)...

Try resetting /rebooting... put it on a flat surface and hold down (I think) the middle button and the menu button. Here are ways to do it for each generation: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320

if you still have questions i can go through almost every ipod-crapping-out scenario.
