I am so miffed with EastEnders at the moment... Since January I've been waiting for this romance to play out between Ben and Paul, only for it all to be stymied by this cringeworthy fake baby plotline with Abi - and now the moment that finishes it's been it's been confirmed that the actor who plays Paul is leaving in June! Good grief it's years since I watched Eastenders and Phil Mitchell and Kathy are still in it!!!!??????? Blimey!

I doubt Phil will ever leave! But Kathy only just came back after ten years away; for some reason the executive producer decided it was something that had to happen when he took the job, along with killing Lucy Beale. She's been useful for Ben's storyline but otherwise she hasn't had much to do so far!

There's no need to rub it in...!!!! I have no non-niche interests anymore. :( When I try to plan a Spuffy fic in my head all I have is a desire for them to yell at each other like the gritty people they are rather than collapse into puffs of marshmallows and candy floss. So I end up with a scene... But then I have nothing!

I hadn't heard about Paul's character leaving. That is sad because like you I had been looking forward to Ben / Paul...

Apparently the decision was made a while ago, but they must be filming his final episodes fairly soon if they haven't already and the actor has taken a lead in a play that's just started advertising. It's a real shame, I think, though they never did much with Paul the character. I'm holding out hope that he might come back at Christmas or something either with the same actor or as a new one, but I don't have much hope.
