the new CAL building

I paid a visit to the new College of Arts and Letters Building (if that's even the official name), the one behind and between the Faculty Center and the Vargas Museum in UP Diliman. It's an effective building in that it provides a great many classrooms for the long-since-beleaguered CAL classes, most especially the ones conducted by the Department ( Read more... )

really? there's a new building?!

The acoustics of the entire building are reminiscent of a high school gymnasium. You know, the kind where every sound echoes everywhere? Stand in one place and I guarantee you'll hear practically every class with a discussion going on.

well, maybe it's for those CL and Theatre Arts (that's under CAL , right?) majors, so they can practice their voices before a performance ;p

Yup, a new building. They took a sizable chunk out of the wilderness between NSRI and Vargas Museum, and plunked it there.

As for the acoustics, oh yeah, this'll be a great place for them to practice voice projection. You don't even need a sound system; just stand in the center atrium and start yelling, haha.

I sat in one of the empty classrooms for a bit while I was there, and I admit that while the building does have its strange aspects, it still has a very UP feel to it.

Then again, it could just be because of the bargain-basement metal/wood prefab furniture. =D

Hey, dante!

Added you to my friends list, hope you dont mind :D

How have you been?

Yup, I was supposed to have a class at CAL Bldg. but the prof just could not stand the acoustics. Plus, next door, there were drillings galore for the new CAL Library.

So, the professor hauled our asses to her house and held classes there eversince. Portentious, eh?

All the best

Chooooong! Wazzaaaaap! =D

I've been doing alright, enjoying my freelancer status with different things here and there. Not the greatest income in the world, but at least I have my time to myself again.

What class is that, the one your professor relocated to her place? Sounds like the sort of thing a faculty member from the DECL would do, haha. ;D
