I think I look fine the way I am (and Lee agrees) but my mom is concerned about how the wedding photos will look with my extremely pale skin. She's been right about ( Read more... )

Well, the concern is that you won't look good in photographs. So you could try taking some photographs of yourself. Then, ask yourself if you look good in them. :D

I'm no photographer, but there must be ways of photographing pale people in ways that don't make them look washed out and sickly. Wearing white complicates the issue, I suppose, but seriously...maybe ask your potential wedding photographers?

Some tricks include:

Don't go tanning. I wouldn't recommend tanning, even if you were going to a tropical location. I'm doubly against it when it's purely for aesthetic reasons. The skin darkens in reaction to UV light, it does this because UV light damages your DNA. Damaged DNA increases your risk for skin cancer. UV light also damages your skin in general, it breaks up collagen, causing wrinkles. Mild tanning isn't going to hurt you too much, but I say, why take the chance at all? Besides, you look fine the way you are.

One of my friends had a natural tan from summer work but had swimsuit lines. She had a spray on tan to even things out. Just another option although sometimes they botch that so find a reputable place if you do.
