Last night I dreamt that this program suddenly had an emergency meeting to discuss student behavior. My students' ignorance and stupidity knows no bounds. Their slowness is glacial. Their behavior is just this side of atrocious and I can't wait to see the back of them. But they all improved on their post-test.

Now go back where you came from, you hell-fiends of Dorchester, and molest me no longer.

The forty-minute study hall in which the kids do their homework is so unpleasant that even to stick my head in for a moment is utter hell from which it takes hot chocolate to recover.

They did it. They pumped up for Olympics. Groups of students who had barely been able to get organized to go to dinner before made human pyramids. They collaborated on banners, chanted in support of each other, planned strategies to win games.

No one fought. Oh lord, thank you.

So, after posting to my liverjournal, I went to Borders where I discovered that the SPQR mysteries are, for the most part, out of print. How unfortunate. They are mysteries set in Ancient Rome, and, if accurate, are very informative. And now I'm doing my photocopying at 2 AM.
