A rock-type or an electric-type would be effective against Falkner's birds, but any well-trained pokemon can do the job.

I'd suggest an Onix, if you can get one--that's what I had. [ Technically still 'has', but he's not an Onix anymore. ] It could be out of your way, though.

An Onix... Judging by your follow up, they must not be located near Violet City.

In Union Cave, a little under a week away. Onix can be ridden by multiple people, so they're an asset if you're traveling as a group.

While I have no intention of traveling withing a group at this time, when I reach Union Cave, I shall consider an Onix.

You're welcome. As for the gyms--you can challenge them in any order you like, but the farther you get from New Bark Town the stronger they are.

I see... Then it is a steady progression with each challenge? What information I could acquire by observing the network implied this fact, however it is good to have confirmation.

I was not aware there were trainers whom could begin their quest in locations other than New Bark Town. Is this a rare occurrence?

I've heard of some people arriving in Mahogany town, but I meant the locals--there must be people here born in different cities.

True. . . However, if that was the case, would the journey to Violet not provide ample time for them to properly for the first Leader?

You might be right, but if they're starting with a low-leveled pokemon like the rest of us, you'd think they'd have trouble training in the northwest.

A valid point. Yet at the same time, the odds of which they could obtain a much stronger Pokemon in the wilds to make up for the level difference are rather high...

Is that so? I had been given the impression the higher quality capture devices had potential to work on a pokemon at full strength...
