I know it's not what you're looking for, but would you like a man with a vintage camera to take photos at the ball? Pete's expressed an interest in snapping people with his bellows camera.

I'll ask him if he's happy to do setup before the ball - I'm sure he will be, and to be honest at social occasions he's happiest when he has something to do, he's not good at simply mingling.

that's spooky -we must be psychiclly linked as were just talking about getting a photographer!
how would people go about getting copies of the photos?

He'd be happy to give people one photo each from the ones done on the vintage camera, after which he'd have to ask for a small payment per print. (Giving people one photo each would work out costing him a lot for film, developing chemicals and photosensitive paper, so he couldn't afford to do more than that.)

I can also get him to take his digital set up so he can shoot at the various events and venues, and he could set up flashes, umbrellas and so on for portraits at the ball. Those could go in a Blurb book - he sets up the book on Blurb, and people can order it from Blurb and get it shipped straight to themselves.

Oh, and for the portraits, he could set up a low-res gallery of thumbnails on his Smugmug site and people could just request printouts/ high res versions of their own photos.

There is a London-based print firm he uses who give a really good choice of inks and papers, so if people wanted special prints (eg on completely matte paper) we could put them onto that company.

I hope people don't think Pete would be cheeky for setting up the Blurb book - Blurb do pass money back to the photographer, but anything he got back probably wouldn't come close to offsetting the film/chemical/paper costs of the film side of things. The Blurb book would be a general overview of the event, and if you could give me a ticklist of attendees I'd make sure everyone was featured at least once in it so it's a really comprehensive book. We do them for ourselves for our holidays.
