This Christmas I finished none of my knitting projects. However, as this is the first year in ages when I haven't set myself ridiculous goals ("In my 7 days off I will finish the socks and the jumper and make a hat and some gloves and start a shawl and read 12 books and and and") I am counting it as a fairly successful one. I aten't dead
I just haven't done much. Got a lurgy before Christmas, took it to the mother-in-law's and gave it to Pete - although he was much happier with his waistcoat and Eye of Time, to be honest. Feeling festive
The tree is up (I broke one bauble decorating it, but as it wasn't one of the two family ones my mum gave me, I can live with that), I have no more print deadlines this year, and I'm free to knit for anyone I like, which at the moment means finishing off the jumper I had been knitting for myself for last Waltz on the Wye. Catses
We went back to Norfolk last weekend for mum's 65th birthday. She was pleased as anything to see us, and we had a smashing Chinese meal with her, her chap (Brian) and my brother and his girlfriend. For once, it's all under control
My knitting is going to schedule, as is my next swap box. This weekend's projects are to finish my Comfort blanket and the Fair Isle beret I'm making for mum for Christmas. Beret nice
I have nearly finished the 'Sunday Pictorial Beret' from A Stitch in Time vol 2. It's a 1930s pattern and so easy. So far, after casting on I've used just two stitches, K (knit) and KFB (Knit into the front and back, ie increases by 1 stitch). Not even a Purl! And I think by the end I'll have used just one other stitch, K2tog, a knit-2-together ( Read more... ) -
MOAR knitting
I had a fab time at a trunk show for A Stitch in Time volume 2 last week, and finally got my hands on a copy of the book. 80 vintage patterns, reknitted in modern yarns and resized where appropriate (in other words, berets are the same size, but the cardigans are not '34in bust or nothing'). Being boring again
I'm in one of those phases when I don't do much more than sleep, work, eat, read and knit. We've been on print deadline and I had the show to work, plus I managed to get a virus for about three days (enough to be annoying, not enough to keep me off work on Monday ( Read more... ) -
Knitting and Stitching Show
I bought nothing at the show. Okay, I was working a stand, so I didn't even get a lunch break, let alone much chance to browse the stalls or look at the exhibits, but in the brief runaround I did have, I didn't see anything that screamed 'buy me'.
