If you have a keg that still has beer in it do you:

A. Take the tap off and keep it in ice, for future use

or

B. leave the tap on, and keep it on ice

Nobody seems to know the answer....

If your tap is filling the keg with air it doesn't much matter...the beer is going to taste like crap in 24 hours anyway. That said, if this is the case are most likely using a rental tap, which probably leaks and/or has a shit seal...I would take it off.

If you are using CO2 and the tap doesn't leak, I would leave it on. If it leaks then I would take it off.

And as you note, always keep kegged beer cold as it isn't pasteurized.
