my visit to the dentist yesterday was a revelation. i was taught how to floss properly. i mean i knew about the back and forth between the teeth bit...and to kinda go up one side and down the other. but no one had ever told me to pull the floss to the sides and get under the gum line. after a long but uneventful (and thats the way we like it!) plane ride, i am back in a strangely rainy los angeles. rufus seems vaguely pleased to see me, and my bed looks extra comfy after all those hours in a plane. gotta be at work at 7am so i think i'll go and curl up for the night now!

i think i just figured out what caused my hip pain: IT band syndrome. its more common for it to cause knee/thigh pain, but it CAN also cause hip pain...so, probably due to running on hard/uneven surfaces and possibly partly the shoes i was wearing and overtraining. but now i know. and i know a few special stretches for that particular muscle, so...
