Where's the beef? Yeah, in my freezer.

I have been up cooking for the freezer all day today. I started with Mac-n-Cheese that was made from scratch. I'm talking, melted butter, cooking garlic, thickened with flour, sauce made of whole milk and chicken broth scratch. It made two 8x8 pans full PLUS a 3x8 loaf sized pan full that we had the pleasure of "testing" tonight at dinner ( Read more... )

Well, it's not really "prepared"...I just know how often lately since we've been so busy working on stuff that we've had to grab something last minute or I've had peanut butter whatever for dinner because I haven't been cooking, and I am tired of that. But I know it's not going to get less busy, so, this was my only answer :-)

See...people have tried to pin nesting on me for months but I haven't yet done anything that I wouldn't normally do before a big event. I am a huge event planner, and this is - as of now - just an "event" for which I am trying to be prepared. I actually did a big cook and freeze last year (2007) when other friends had babies so I could cook for the both of us. So it's not like, out of the ordinary, you know ( ... )

You are such a domestic goddess! Please don't slap me for that, it's the best term I could dream up :)

I cannot wait to see pics of Lilah's room- the finished project...and of course, I can't wait to see Lilah's picture, as well!!

No slapping! I don't think you're considered a domestic goddess, though, unless you can do all that with your kids and your full-time job. Right now I'm just a girl with time on her hands and she's trying to use it wisely!

The bumper is 95% completed; we just have to attach the tabs to it. It looks SO good! I just wish there was a crib to put in into! LOL

I'm trying. I just don't want to have to think much until the end of Februrary :-)

HOLY CRAP!! That's amazing. I had sort of planned to make a bunch of food for right after Audrey was born but I just didn't make it happen. I learned my lesson for next time though, most days I didn't get to eat until Forrest got home at 5 or 6 at night. Babies take a crazy amount of time those first few weeks.

So yeah, you're pretty awesome!

Yeah...I didn't want to have to rely on pizza. I do have at least 15 extra pounds that aren't baby that I'm going to need to get rid of, and I figured the least I can do is attempt some sort of real food, balanced diet. LOL And I know people will bring stuff, too, but I just wanted to have enough to fill in the gaps for about 5 or 6 weeks, you know?

I'll let you know if it was a complete waste of time :-)

Trust me, I already know it wasn't a waste of time. Forrest finally had to get me a bunch of frozen dinners and crap food like that so that I could actually eat during the day. I barely had time to go to the bathroom and refill my juice. And it's not like Audrey was a bad baby, she never cried or anything, she just needed something every 10 seconds.

She could totally sense my energy level. She'd sleep for hours if I was just sitting watching tv but the second I got up to do something she'd wake up. And still, anytime we eat she's hungry. It doesn't matter if she's in the middle of a nap, she knows it's food time and she has to eat first.
