Some days I really hate the T

Gah! Well, hopefully you've gotten your bad T karma out of the way for quite some time.

Good grief! Do I dare to love my job now? :P

Sounds to me like the second train you were on had sticky brakes (burning smell) and resulting flat spots on the wheels (shuddering weirdly). But overall this definitely does not sound like the T's finest hour. I mean, using an entire train to shove a cripple up the line? Industrial railroads in Europe have electric mules for such matters, for crying out loud. (And if the pusher didn't have trouble shoving up the hill from Park to Charles, I shudder to think of where the problem lay between Porter and Alewife.)

At least they kept everybody's safety at the top of the list, though.

I believe the train broke at Downtown Crossing, so there would already have been other trains lined up behind it. No place to insert a mule, I suppose.

Yes, you may love your job. Perhaps you can come down and teach the T folks a thing or two. :)

Well I just remember the time i was on a crippled train that got that way in the tunnel and they had to push us out--i was on the last car and saw the other car coming at us and bumping us to push us out--

Glad you managed to get to work and home safe and sound.
