What weird parallel universe have I entered?

When I got to my car at the Alewife parking garage last night, there was a dent and a paint scrape along the driver's-side back door. Clearly someone had dinged the car while pulling out of the adjacent space. It appears to be all cosmetic damage -- I have no functional trouble with the door or its window

The other morning walking to the train around 6am, I saw an SUV take off the side mirror of a parked car and keep on going. I couldn't get the license or I'd have written it down for the owner. Guess you got their luck, whoot!

Yeah. We weren't so lucky when we recently "acquired" a big dent with some other color paint as well. Glad you got a phone number.

I was the perpetrator of a minor ding on a parked car myself a while back, left a note, and never heard back. But the car was as old as mine, so I suspect they didn't care to deal with it.

I'd call this a medium ding -- large enough that I'm willing to at least have an evaluation of it. The evaluator is actually not too far from your place, over the line into Newton.

I'm impressed that they would leave a note. As you say, I would have expected them to make their way silently into the night, never to be heard from again.
