My out-of-warranty desktop PC, which has been acting a little wacky lately, has finally crashed. XP won't start, system is corrupted, it won't boot into safe mode or last known good configuration, blah blah blah... It had started making *ka-chunk-ka-chunk* noises over the weekend, which is generally considered not to be a good thing in a computer ( Read more... )

Booooo! Silly 'puters.

If you decide the netbook isn't cutting it for you and that you need to buy a new one, it might be worth seeing if anyone is doing a "preorder for Windows 7 and we'll send you an upgrade disk" deal or something of the sort.

Any idea which part(s) of it have given up? If it's the HD and you have a recovery disk, I can probably find a replacement drive around here for you.

I recall some stories about the "Vista compatible" computers not being so very Vista compatible. I'd rather hold out if I can. The main things I lack on my netbook are a CD drive and printer access, but I have access to such things at work ( ... )
