V-day. Ugh. Can't stand it myself, just an excuse for those with significant others to be guilt-tripped into buying expensive crap... after all, with a significant other wouldn't you just be wanting to do stuff with them or for them whenever you felt like it without having to mark it on the calendar?
And an excuse for those of us on the solitary path to be made to feel even more shit than usual.
I think it's pretty amusing how V-day is so messed up.
One person did the greeting on the phone at work, and I couldn't really figure out what to say right after I instinctively said, "Eeehhh. Ugh, er, yeah, same to you!"
I thought it was really neat though, when Sunny, our teammate, bought a flower/balloon set thingy for all us girls. When it doesn't relate to couples, it actually turns out as a pretty okay thing. The whole couples thing is just so dumbass. (Oh yeah, she also got us those weird chocolate christmas whatever calendar things, in which I ended up eating all the chocolates in one day. They were pretty good!)
It'd be awesome if there weren't any of those days.
I'm good at getting people presents, but not "on demand." I rarely spot anything for anyone when I am going shopping for presents. It's always when I'm doing something else. This is why I had to start shopping for Christmas all year long, then saving the presents. Like moms do, except I'd like to think my presents mean more than "Sears had a sale."
"Soon, I will have mellowed all the way down to merely psychotic." I feel less and less affected by things that used to enrage me, too.
P.S. Am I just not on all your filters, or do you just actually post THIS rarely? I won't be offended, just curious.
Nah, you're on all my active filters. I just really suck at keeping up to date lately. Didn't even post my traditional six paragraphs of insane raving on my birthday.
