So beautiful and so sad. Things don't feel like it right now, but I hope there will be a happyhappier ending.
It itches at its waist, frowning at the feeling of tight skin. It's too dark, though, to see how the scales there have lightened into a cast-over-morning grey.
. . . skin tightening, scales fading . . . because he's been out of the water too long, or is this some sort of transformation? What are you up to, I wonder? ;)
Also: I love how, at the end when you shift to Dean's POV, he's not referred to as "Dean" or even "he," but "it." That just makes me so sad because the Dean we know and love is really and truly an inhuman creature.
Hmmmmm, this was an interesting chapter. I get that Cas feels hopeless and alone, but that didn't seem to account for him going back into the water so willingly. And then Dean reacted strangely, too- zoning out and then pushing Cas away. And now his scales have lightened...
I'm intrigued to see where this goes. The stuff Cas found on his laptop about Adaros wasn't very encouraging and certainly seemed to tie in with their first encounter, but definitely not the second one.
I am so in love with this fic! Dean is so mysterious and intriguing. Even though he could be deadly to Cas, there's something good about him as well. Poor Cas and Dean. They've both suffered such tragic losses, it makes my heart hurt for them both. :(

Seriously, thank you for sticking with this and giving such nice feedback. That really, really means a lot.
And don't worry--I'll bend the boys, but I won't break them :)
