he goes on and on about dancing, standing up at inappropriate moments to play with the invisible energy he wields - i can practically see his hands glowing in the strobing lights. His words are slighty slurred but somehow still in a massive hurry, tripping over themselves to miss the point. He can't stop moving, but more than that is the constant ( Read more... )

also, miah was just diagnosed with degenerative back something-or-other which is chronic & incurable. his mother had it. he'll be on pain pills for the rest of his life.

wow. that fucking sucks. i don't know what to think about that.
incidentally, i broke my ankle not a day and a half after the above encounter... now i am at my parents house for at least six weeks on crutches. so much for brooklyn. as pissed as i am to lose my job, its a bit of a relief to get away from my boss.
clean and broken is better than itchy and faking it.
anyway, i'm trying to fill my days productively, and while i have an insanely long reading list already, i was wondering if you had any movies or documentaries to recommend.
it looks like i'm going to try doing summer the way you've always loved - lots of books, a smattering of movies, and lots of time to love on my cat. too bad i don't have a swimming pool...

sorry about your ankle. good thing you've got parents & cats & literacy on your side.

the notwist is coming in the fall.

been meaning to suggest one of my new favorite films to you: 'perfume: the story of a murderer,' directed by tom tykwer who directed 'run lola run' and 'the princess & the warrior.' just read the book it was based on by patrick suskind which was also phenomenal. the film is different than the book. read them in whatever order you'd like, though i think you'll appreciate the film more if you see it first & the book just as much either way.

just saw 'kung fu panda' which... well... do i even have to tell you to see it? :)

was your thesis accepted?

i really want to write you an email, but at least at this very moment i need to read my biology textbook.

feel better, panda mama.

thesis was accepted with an hour to spare.
i am officially graduated. woot.

the notwist? havent listened to them in quite some time. so gut-wrenchingly good, but i've had a hard time dragging it out of old memories. a soundtrack of sorts, i suppose. even so, i'd certainly be down for seeing them live.

no rush on the email. i'd love an update, but biology's a bitch and a needy one at that. i'm sure you're swamped with pre-nursing stuff, and i think it's awesome, so i've no complaints if that's what's keeping you from writing me.

and yes, i've been meaning to kung fu panda it up. you just can't go wrong with a concept like that. for real. and i will definitely check out perfume - the rents have netflix, complete control over which they've surrendered to me for the summer. first three on the list: Malcolm X, Labyrinth, and a PBS special on quantum physics/string theory.
perhaps broken isn't so bad.
