Dances With Clichés

Guess what I just saw?

What kills me is that they could have saved it, and so easily. I almost thought they were going to, for a minute. It would have been so simple.

Spoilers below the cut, because it's not like the movie is predictable or anything. )

You are so right about the Toruk thing. Geeze, I never even thought of that and it makes the movie that much better!

You know, I was thinking the same exact thing while I watched it. That's funny..

Now having seen this, I wholeheartedly agree. Whole thing, warts taken with a grain of salt and all derailed when the story ceased being about Neytiri. I really could have cared less about Jake. He was an idiot all around. I don't care how plucky an idiot: an idiot. It was just ridiculously painful to watch.

Especially because I live in Indian country. It was like... oh, ohhh. ohhhhh. ow. no. ow. owwwwww.

Which tribe are they copping next in their great alien mishmosh?

Since the first movie already used the Plains Indian/Khoi-san cultural model, and the sequel is slated to take place in Pandora's oceans, I'm hoping that the next tribe Jake & Co. visit will be at the north pole and be based on the Inuits of the Arctic Circle. These Na'vi will have mastered the element of water, and use its mystical properties to...oops, wrong Avatar. My bad.
