The one photo you've got of the Grand Canyon looks like it was taken from the north wall. The south wall looks completely different-- did you get to see it from both sides?
No, actually. The north rim was closed, as we discovered at 8pm on our second night of the trip. Apparently they still had six feet of snow and we weren't willing to hike thirty miles of closed roads to get to it on our own. Fortunately Phil was able to barter his photography skills to get us rooms for the night at a nearby hotel.
So yeah, the picture is from the south rim. The south rim was beautiful... I'd always been led to believe that the south rim was very hot and deserty, but we went along a good length of it, and it's all high plateau pinyon forest up there. Got down to thirty degrees or so the night we spent at the south rim campsite.
