In college I babysat for our music director's two daughters when I wasn't in rehearsal/performance. Such beautiful, smart girls...the younger of which has CF. Every night...multiple pills, a vest that would shake her for about 30 minutes...a special diet.

It broke my heart, but back then, the information I found said she wouldn't survive beyond possibly her early teens....more recently I've seen info talking about 30s being more common. Either way it's still difficult to deal with that knowledge.

While we feel so badly for those that have to deal with these serious issues....I sometimes also think that they were given a gift--in that they view the world in a different way than most of the rest of us ever will. Knowing each moment is as important as the last..and as the next. Being able to enjoy things differently than most.

I'm glad things worked out for her. It's nice to read a happy story today.

My God, I now know why I see such pain in your eyes when I smoke. I get it now. I am so sorry. I worked with CF patients and it is so hard to watch yet they are so amazing no, gifted. I am happy to hear of the miracle she was able to illuminate to everyone she touched. (which is me now too.) Thank you for telling her story. Blessings...
