And the suck just keeps on coming
So it turns out that Kathy does not have a concussion, but she has fractured one of the bones around her eye socket. The ER gave her painkillers and a tetanus shot, and a referral to a facial surgeon to see if she needs surgery, or if it can just heal on its own. Arizona has, to the surprise of absolutely no one with half a brain, become the new coronavirus hot spot. Our idiot governor, whose guiding principle is always "Is this going to make big business richer? No? Then I'm against it," was finally pressured into saying that local mayors could institute stricter covid restrictions than the state has. ( Read more... ) -

Every time I think I cannot possibly despise Trump more, he opens his mouth. I suppose in a perverse way, the torrent of virulently xenophobic pro-Trump, anti-Mark Kelly commercials that the Republican superpacs have unleashed upon the Arizona airwaves is an encouraging sign, because they wouldn't be spending money here if they weren't worried. We had a new person try out with our gaming group tonight -- we're still doing it via Roll20, despite the stay at home order in AZ being lifted, because one of our members has medication-related immune issues. Soooo tired
This weekend we essayed stage 2 of the back porch project: Getting the crossbars attached to the posts. This meant taking all the boxes off the shelves on the back porch, so that we could move the shelves to use them to support the crossbars. As of next Monday, my workplace is instituting temperature checks for all employees before you can enter the building. If you register a temperature of more than 100.4 or whatever, you have to go sit in the shade for five minutes and then get a re-check. Apparently the Blood Roses forum has gone down, and it's unlikely it will come back up again. It was the last Bangel forum/fic archive I knew of that was still in operation. In its last years it had degenerated down to three or four regulars who posted occasional bitter rants about Spuffy and/or Spike fans, but I'm still sorry to hear it's gone ( Read more... )
